This week has been a lot of fun. The most exciting part about my week was being able to sub for the second time. I find this exciting because it's like the classroom is all mine for the day and like I am the teacher (can't wait for that to be an all the time thing). I am thrilled to say that I had no behavior issues and we had a great day. Okay, so there were more exciting things than subbing this week. For instance, one of my students was chosen to read his writing piece for the Veteran's Day program-in front of the entire school and a couple veterans. How awesome is that? He did an awesome job and we (the class) enjoyed cheering him on.
Science this week was a blast! Specifically on Thursday (the day I subbed). I did centers with my students and each center was focused on the processes that change matter. My favorite center was cooking because I got to make chocolate chip pancakes while the students made their observations and predictions-it really was an awesome Science lesson. So awesome that I had a student come up to me after class and say that "I really love Science now because you make it fun!" That made my week! Science should be fun and I hope that I can make every student enjoy Science and develop a true love for it. Don't worry, I'll post the lesson plan for this lesson: The Processes that Change Matter-very soon, along with a formative assessment that I made!
Overall, another great week at my school! I couldn't ask for a better community within my assigned school or for a better class and mentor. Having such a great environment really does make this journey amazing!
Oh and I attended another Meaty Math training-it breaks up the math units so you can better understand and teach them- and they give you a ton of implementation ideas! If you haven't gone to one I HIGHLY recommend it!!! That is all :)
